Your pet is very important to us. City Bark and LC'S Detroit would like to assure you that every effort will be made to make your animal’s grooming experience as safe and pleasant as possible. Safety comes first for everyone, people as well as animals, during the grooming process. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in a carrier.
ACCIDENTS: Grooming equipment is sharp, and although we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, quicking of nails, etc. In the event an accident does occur, you will be notified immediately. If City Bark and LC'S Detroit determine the accident to be serious, and the owner is not on-site, City Bark and LC'S Detroit will seek veterinary care for your pet.
HEALTH OR MEDICAL PROBLEMS: Occasionally, grooming can expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current one. This can occur during or after grooming. All medical expenses for veterinary care will be covered by the animal’s owner upon signing this agreement.
VETERINARIAN AUTHORIZATION – MEDICAL EMERGENCIES: This release gives City Bark and LC'S Detroit full authorization to seek medical treatment from the nearest veterinarian in the case of any medical emergencies while in the care of City Bark. All veterinarian costs and expenses will be the responsibility of the animal’s owner.
CURRENT VACCINATIONS: Pets 16 weeks and older must be up to date on Rabies and we strongly recommend they are current on distemper and Bordetella. Proof of rabies must be given 48 hours before the grooming appointment or your appointment will be canceled. Please email these to [email protected] Puppies under 16 weeks will need at least two sets of puppy starter vaccinations that include distemper, hepatitis, and parvovirus. Kittens under 16 weeks are required to have their parvovirus, herpesvirus type-1, and calicivirus vaccinations. Please make sure there is at least a 24-hour time period between vaccine administration and their grooming service.
FLEAS/TICKS: City Bark and LC'S Detroit strives to be a flea-free salon. If your pet has any fleas, they will be given a flea treatment at your expense of $20 or up (depending on the size of the dog) on top of the original grooming price. Flea baths require the use of natural and/or chemical solutions. Some animals are sensitive to these solutions and may experience a reaction. If you do not want your pet to receive a flea bath, we ask that you reschedule your appointment until after the problem is taken care of.
MATTED COATS: Pets with severely matted coats require extra attention. Mats in a pet’s coat grow tight, and can ultimately damage and tear the pet's skin, which provides a breeding ground for parasite infestations. City Bark and LC'S Detroit will not cause serious or undue stress to your pet by de-matting. Mats can be tough to remove and may require the pet to be shaved. Removing a heavily matted coat can cause nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to skin growths trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mold, fungus, or bacteria to grow, producing skin irritations that existed before the grooming process. After-effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions, and failure of the hair to regrow. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. Prevention is the best defense by scheduling regular grooming appointments, every 4-6 weeks. If your pet needs to be shaved to remove matting, you acknowledge that you agree to this procedure and any risk. There will be an additional charge for this process: it is time-consuming and causes extra wear and tear on grooming equipment. The additional charge can be estimated by the groomer before the appointment.
STRESS: When exposed to new environments, animals may experience elevated levels of stress. If your pet is too stressed to safely groom, all procedures will stop, and you will be notified immediately.
DANGEROUS OR AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS (Refusal of Services): City Bark and LC'S Detroit have the right to refuse any services at any time. If your pet is too stressed or becomes dangerous to groom, City Bark and LC'S Detroit have the right to refuse grooming services, stop grooming services, or cancel grooming services at any time before, during, or after grooming and the client will be charged a grooming fee.
CANCELLATIONS/NO-SHOW/RESCHEDULING: Appointment times are carefully reserved and set to fulfill each client’s grooming and scheduling needs. Accordingly, a 24-hour notice will be REQUIRED for appointment changes and cancellations. It is the client’s responsibility to give the required 24-hour notice of any changes or cancellations. Rescheduled or canceled appointments with LESS than 24-hour notice, and all no-show appointments will be charged the full ticket price to the card on file. If you do not have a card on file, or the card declines, future appointments will not be scheduled until the cancellation fee is paid.
LATE ARRIVAL/PICKUP: We are only able to perform the grooming services for your pet in the time allotted for your scheduled appointment. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late to your scheduled appointment, we will not be able to perform your scheduled grooming services and will require you to reschedule your appointment so that we stay on schedule with our other clients. This is considered a no-show and you will be charged the full ticket price to the card on file. We will give you a pickup time estimate and call you when the groom is completed. All grooming will be completed before the salon closes at 6 pm, please make sure to pick up your pet before then. After 6:15 pm, a late pickup fee of $20 will be added to your total.
